Alvin Hoskins Obituary

Alvin John Hoskins, beloved Husband, Father, Brother, Papa, and Uncle, peacefully passed away at the age of 76 on the night of June 14, 2021, with his loving family by his side. He was born to parents Alvin Manel Hoskins and Florence Ellen (Jenkinson) Hoskins on May 3, 1945 in Norwich, England. After a short time, the Hoskins family moved to the United States and called Oklahoma their home. Alvin married the love of his life Emmelita Brusenhan in 1966, and they moved to Yukon, Oklahoma where they became life-long residents and community members. They welcomed two wonderful children into the world, John and Rebel, whom they held close to their hearts. He loved his family and it was a priority to be there for them. As a scout leader for his son's boy scout troop, he became known as the "Master Knot Maker." Alvin also never missed his annual trip to Branson with his wife and daughter, and eventually his granddaughters. He cherished his family and pursued his family legacy.

Alvin served in the Air Force from 1964 to 1970, and worked his way up to Sergeant. After his honorable discharge, Alvin worked as a manager for Cooks Paint Store before joining his brother-in-law in remodeling. He thoroughly enjoyed wood working, so remodeling was a dream job for him. After retiring from remodeling, he joined Yukon Public Schools as a bus driver and worked with the maintenance department. Other than woodworking, Alvin enjoyed many other hobbies and passions. He enjoyed working with his and his wife's goats, playing dominos, which he enjoyed teaching to his granddaughters, and attending his granddaughters, nieces, and nephews' activities. He was also very involved with the First Baptist Church of Yukon, Oklahoma where he taught the 4 year-olds, worked with the RA's, and assisted with the Youth Group's many trips. Alvin was the life of the party, a jokester, and enjoyed making all his family and friends laugh. He will be missed by all who knew him and loved him dearly.

Alvin Hoskins is preceded in death by his wife Emmelita Hoskins, son John Hoskins, parents Alvin and Florence Hoskins, and sister Florence Ann Hutchison. He is survived by his daughter Rebel Buersmeyer and husband Sean of Piedmont, Oklahoma, his granddaughters Reagan and Taylor, his brother Loy Hoskins, sisters Trish Dillmon and Vicki Wescott, and many other relatives and friends.
