Achamma Cherian, known as Chinnamma to family and friends, was born in Thalappady, Kottayam, Kerala, India in February 1936 to the late John Kuruvilla and the late Mariamma John, Kuttikkattu Padinjarkara. She was preceded in death by her four brothers and is survived by her two sisters, Kunjamma and Sosamma.
She was married to the late Pr. T.C. Cherian in August 1960. She accepted Jesus as her personal savior and got baptized and filled with the Holy Spirit in 1964. In May 1969, even in the midst of struggles, they devoted their life to ministry as God called them. They ministered in Kanchiyar, Vandanmedu in Idukki District, and in areas surrounding Kottayam, which include Vazhoor, Muttom, Pakkil, Moolavattom, Kanam, Kodungoor, Arpookkara, and Melukavu.
Their ministry was founded on faith and prayer, and God used them for deliverance, healing and salvation of many souls. They often walked many miles in the mountainous regions to share the Gospel to unbelievers and to serve the local churches.
God blessed them with two children: her first son, Cherian K. Cherian and his wife Anna Cherian (OK); their daughter Nissy Solomon and her husband Nelson Solomon (OK); their son Zepheniah Cherian and his wife Feba Joseph (OK); her second son, Pr. John K. Cherian (ministering with IPC Pampady East Center) along with his wife Abeymol (Vazhoor, Kottayam, Kerala); their three children Immanue K. John (Doha, Qatar), Iens Chery John (OH) and Imnah John.
She moved to the U.S. after her husband passed away to live with her son in Oklahoma. She was an active member of IPC Hebron Oklahoma. She was a woman of faith-filled prayers and intercession; God blessed her with dreams and visions to edify the church. She loved reading the Word and read through the entire Bible numerous times.
She was a loving wife, partner in ministry with her husband, a caring mother and grandmother. She lived a simple life, her days committed to serving God. She will truly be missed, and her memory and legacy will always be in our hearts.
