Green Burial, or Natural Burial is a way to care for your loved one with minimal environmental impact. It allows the physical body to return to the earth naturally without using containers to protect the body. Embalming is not required, but it is offered if the family desires an extended public viewing. If desired, Ingram, Smith & Turner can embalm the body with a formaldehyde-free solution. The body, either unembalmed or embalmed, will be placed in a biodegradable shroud or casket for burial in a “green cemetery” or “natural burial ground” for those who wish for an environmentally-friendly burial. This option makes it possible for end-of-life choices to mirror the loved one’s value system they had during their life.
Natural Burial without embalming
Embalm with a formaldehyde-free, bio-friendly solution if desired
Preserve natural habitat with shroud or biodegradable, eco-friendly casket made of bamboo or seagrass
Optional full tribute service with or without viewing, or a peaceful outdoor graveside gathering
These options meet the requirements for the Green Burial Council national certification for funeral homes and cemeteries that offer the Green or Natural Burial options for the families they serve.
